EXPERIMENTAL MINI OBIANS
Our experimental" Dwarf Goats began with the purchase of a beautiful Oberhasli/Nubian doe named Carmello (we call them "Obian's!) who was bred with a Nigerian Dwarf buck. The resulting offspring were amazingly dairy but in a smaller package!....our first mini- "Obian's"! We retained one of the does (KitKat) and have been so pleased with her that we decided to continue this little line with the intent of producing more like herself for families wishing to include a smaller , highly efficient & productive dairy goat into their homestead/farm plans. This is NOT a recognized "breed" , however resulting offspring can be registered with the International Dairy Goat Assoc. or the Miniature Dairy Goat Assoc. We also recently purchased a Nubian/Oberhasli/Togg cross doeling with many of the same genetics as KitKat but with the addition of the American Toggenburg...another highly efficient, vigorous dairy goat. As an added benefit with these cross bred goats comes "hybrid vigor". Hybrid vigor simply means that the animal possesses all the good traits of each breed and thus is more easily maintained from a health point of view. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to inquire.
Misty Highland Farm KA KitKat D.O.B. 2/10/11
Sire: Dragonfly Mighty King Asa ( Nigerin Dwarf)
Dam: Flat Brooks Farm Caramello ( Nubian Oberhasli cross)
KitKat has been such a great producer of not only outstanding kids but really has earned her spot here on our farm. She consistently milks well past even our star Nigerian Delia and her milk weights stay consistent far after she hits peak lactation. At nine months fresh she is still putting over 4 pounds of milk in the milk pail on a bad day! I can't say enough about this girl. She is hardy, parasite tolerant, has great feet, and looks like an elegant full sized goat in a smaller package. She is anxious to do her job as a dairy goat each and every day and we love her dearly. If you are looking for milk this is the girl to get kids out of!!!
* We hope to give KitKat a year off due to a bad kidding last year.
